With classes now being 100% online, it is hard to keep motivated and focused at home. If you are like me and get easily distracted, here are some things I found help me focus at home on my schoolwork.
- When you feel tired or blah, take a cold shower. Then, change into clothes that you would wear in public, not your PJs even though they are probably more comfortable.

2. When you wake up in the morning, open all the blinds, turn on the lights, and make your bed. This helps make your bed look less comfy. Check out this Ted Talk about the impact of making your bed:

3. Feel yourself looking at the ceiling instead of on the assignment? Play your favorite upbeat song and do jumping jacks to the beat. Stretch it out and then get back to work.

4. Try chewing some gum.

5. Make 3 lists: one for things due today, one for things due this week, and another for large projects/ papers you should get started on. When you accomplish something, feel free to dramatically cross it off your to- do list. It’s a great feeling.

6. Confused about an assignment? Call or text someone in your class to ask for help or shoot your professor an email. Then, move on to a different assignment for the time being.

7. If you start to get anxious, try going for a walk outside to clear your head. It has been really nice outside these past couple of days.

8. Set your alarm in the morning so you don’t sleep in too late.

9. Sit at a desk when you are doing your work–preferably in a quite place. The less clutter on your desk, the fewer distractions you will have.

10. Spend some time doing something fun with your family or talk to a friend on the phone. Do something that makes you happy because that makes life so much better. If you feel better, you will work better.
